(African): "Bridges to Cross-Cultural Understanding" sponsored
by the Ethiopian Community Development Council provides news and information
regarding African refugees and economic issues. This program airs on Saturday
at 9:30am and showcases African musicians and other special guests to
bridge the gap between all cultures.
Amharic: The principal language of Ethiopia and the language spoken by over 65,000
Ethiopians in the area. The following informational programs are broadcast
on New World Radio: "Aend Ethiopia" , "Selam Radio",
"Ye Hibret", "Netsanet Le Ethiopia", "Yeasrat
Dimts", and "Negarit". Also in the Amharic language are
the following religious programs: "Ethiopian Evangelical Church",
"Yemsrach Dimste Yewongel" and "Besrate Wongel".
Tigrinya: With news and information from Eritrea, "Voice of Eritrea" and
"Democratic Eritrea" bring different perspectives to the Eritrean
speakers in the Washington Area.
Woluf: The language of Senegal and the Gambia, the program "SeneGambia" provides news and music to its listeners in the Washington Area.
